Bisley are one of the largest and best known manufacturers of office furniture in the UK. With a long history dating back to 1931, Bisley started out as a car repair business in Surrey. The company expanded dramatically in the 1940s manufacturing wartime defence projects but by the time the war was over, Bisley needed to find a new manufacturing role. Starting from humble beginnings making steel waste paper baskets, Bisley branched out into office products and in the 1960s the repair of cars was discontinued to enable the company to concentrate entirely on office furniture.
Bisley was bought in 1970 by Tony Brown who still owns the company along with his family and other directors. Bisley are renowned around the world for their high-quality filing cabinets which they launched in 1980. Since then the company has successfully launched several other incredibly popular product lines including side opening tambours, LateralFile and InnnerSpace.
Regarded has having some of the most state of the art factories in Europe, Bisley has two manufacturing facilities in Bisley and Newport which occupy a total of 64000 square metres. In addition the company also boasts a London showroom and sales offices in France, Holland, Germany, Ireland and Spain.
These days Bisley are probably still best known for their premium quality steel filing cabinets that are a recognisable feature of many offices.
